We dreamt it. After decades of making toys, a team of designer-friends at DoodleDo, in partnership with family-run manufacturer Battat, decided it was time for toys that made a difference. To the world and the children in it.
As parents we all hold the opportunity of a lifetime, literally, in our hands. The formation of little humans is our legacy, our gift to the world. Who those children become happens in the daily decisions, in the fleeting moments of everyday life. Even in what toys kids play with.
At the end of the day, we all buy toys to help us raise our kids. Good and happy kids.
Fair. Honest. Kind. Good. Happy.
Hence our toys. With the one-letter name.
Creative, intelligent, delightful. And much more important, generous –– the way we want our kids to B.
We don’t have replacement parts for all of our toys, but let us know what you’re missing and we’ll do what we can to help. Call us at 1-866-665-5524. We’re around Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. You can also send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. So we can help you faster, please include your phone number and address and write MISSING PART in the subject line with the name of the toy.
Our materials vary depending on the type of toy and the age for which it is designed. We use wood, plastics, cloth, ribbon and many other materials. Nothing we use contains any lead or phthalates. In addition to carefully choosing materials for our toys, we are passionate about the materials used to make our packaging. Read more about our eco-friendly packaging.
Messes happen. And cleaning suggestions depend on the specific material used in the toy and whether or not it has batteries or an electronic component. In general, plastic toys can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol or (for a nicer planet) a soft cloth dampened with warm, soapy water. Wipe down the surface and allow the toy to dry thoroughly. Wood toys can be cleaned with furniture polish or a soft damp cloth. The cute little kitty and puppy that come in the Critter Clinic just love a trip through the washing machine as long as the water is on cold. However no bleach. Air dry. And if you’re inclined to dry clean or iron your plush toys, please do not with these. For toys that go in the bathtub and collect water inside, mold may grow over time. Simply fill a bowl with water and suck up a strong solution of kosher salt and water or straight vinegar. Let it sit overnight and then rinse it out with salt solution or vinegar. You can repeat this as many times as necessary. If you want to use bleach, dilute it half-and-half with water. After scrubbing, flush with lots and lots of water. The H2-Whoa! surface can be cleaned by diluting a little baby shampoo in warm water and washing it with a washcloth. Don’t rub too hard, but do it a few times and even food grease should come out. If it doesn’t, email us at email@example.com and we’ll see how we can help. Kids should be washed with warm soapy water while they play with our floatable Fish & Splish and then dried with a soft, fluffy towel.
So glad you asked! Our toys are waiting for you at Target stores, Target.com and select specialty stores around the U.S. Find a store near you.
Well, after all the hinting around Meowsic finally got that passport!
We just launched our new brand in the USA this year, but we’ve had a huge response from all over the world. We are so flattered! Russia, Peru, Mexico, Belgium, Germany, OH MY!
For right now, our toys are mostly available in the USA and just entering Canada. Using a North American address, you can easily see if there's a store carrying B. toys near you on our Where To Buy page. If you’re on any other continent, send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and maybe by then we’ll also have a store near YOU!
We never imagined the love B. would receive from around the world. We’re practicing learning to say GRACIAS • DANKE • OBRIGADO • MERCI • ARIGATO ...
Most of our toys do not change from country to country. They travel far and wide exactly the same. However, sometimes we cannot sell the identical toy internationally due to translation glitches and laws about imports. For example, we cannot translate Zany Zoo's ABC aardvark to zebra and have them still match all the letters in alphabetical order. (Only Z for zebra works in many languages!) If you want to see what each of the Zany Zoo animals is called in English or are stumped about what the art is depicting (fish with horn = Narwhal) here is an adorable cheat sheet.
Keen eye! Yes, you’re right. We made those toys, too. We used to make toys licensed by Parents Magazine. Now we’re on our own! Same design team and great value. New colors, new patterns, new vision, new energy! A new B.ginning! Toys inspired by our travels, our kids, our lives, our passions. Packaging that’s responsible and even reusable. A commitment to Free The Children. We are sooooooo excited about our new venture! Thanks for joining us!
To avoid wasting paper and the resources involved in transporting catalogs, we’ve created this website where you can find all of our toys available to date. If you have any questions about them, please send an email to email@example.com. Be sure to include your phone number in case we need to contact you by phone.
That is true. In May 2011, because the safety of your children, of all children, is our first (and 17th) priority, we voluntarily withdrew FunKeys and Toulouse-LapTrec from the market based on a couple of isolated complaints of breakage. We really do listen when you write or call us! We did not do this lightly, but we did it lovingly and immediately. Treating all our friends, fans and fellow parents the way we would like to be treated. As of today, both toys have been re-engineered to exceed safety tests.
- As of August 2 FunKeys are on official recall in collaboration with the CPSC. So if you own one of these we will happily replace it with our stronger keys. The new versions (and new colors!) are in stores now.
- As of November 2, Toulouse-LapTrec is on official recall in collaboration with the CPSC. If you own one of these, we are ready and waiting to replace it with our new Toulouse-LapTrecs. The new, re-engineered Toulouse-LapTrecs are also in stores now.
We’d never leave you humming. Find a replacement for any lyric sheet.
Our toys are designed in the USA then manufactured in China. Affordability is a big goal of ours. Our production partners in China allow us to offer our high-quality toys at prices most can afford. We have strong relationships with our production team overseas. We also conduct random on-site audits of factories to ensure the highest standards are met in manufacturing and in employee health, safety and human rights. We are happy that Target, our largest retail supplier, requires an equally firm commitment to human rights from any brand they carry. (You can read more about Target’s commitment to the global community.) Regardless of where our toys are made, we only use lead- and phthalate-free materials.
Additionally, our production partners have been integral in working with us to create packaging that has as little impact as possible on our planet. We treasure our overseas partners.

YES! We are so glad you asked, because we have been relentless in choosing the most recycled and recyclable materials we can to package our toys. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. It’s a way of life around here.
For starters, wherever possible we’ve omitted packaging altogether.
Some of our toys come with just a simple hangtag.
We also plan for reuse from the very beginning. Of course that starts with using recycled materials. All of our boxes are made from recycled paper. For some of our toys, we’ve replaced a traditional box with a beautiful sturdy bag that you can use over and over. (Check out Elemenosqueeze.) The bags look and feel almost like fabric, but they are actually made from polypropylene – a material that’s recycled from things like sneakers – and are completely biodegradable.
We’ve also designed many of our boxes to become pretty trays to store treasures, and yet still other boxes actually flip over and become gift wrap. No need to buy wrapping paper! Read more about our self-wrapping gifts.
If we couldn’t eliminate it or make it reusable, we made sure it was recyclable. All of our boxes can be recycled again and again and again. And the plastic that holds our toys in place so they arrive at your house safely? We’ve carefully chosen and invested in #1 PET plastic because it’s the most easily and widely recycled, and is even able to become polar fleece in its next life. Even the very few ties that we had to use to protect our toys while in transit are recyclable.
On top of all that, the inks we use in our packaging are soy-based and our varnishes water-based.
As you can tell, we poured our hearts and souls into making as little impact as possible on our planet. Fortunately we love the way our packages look, as well. Sometimes what looks good is good.
We built our toys sturdy so they could be recycled the old-fashioned way – by being passed from one child to another. When everyone in your family is finished playing with a toy, please check out earth911.com. You’ll find wonderful opportunities in your area for passing along a toy to someone who could use it next.
First we’d like you to know that rechargeable batteries are safe to use in all of our toys. If you are using traditional batteries check out earth911.com to quickly find a safe place to bring them once they run out of charge. We find this site extremely useful for information on recycling just about anything.
Your packages say that the toy I bought will donate 10¢ to Free The Children. Is that true? Every toy?
Yes. And a dime donation may not sound like a lot, but it’s right off the top. 10¢ means 10¢. Not after profits, not after taxes. Straight to Free The Children. Dime after dime after dime, we are making a difference together.
Free The Children is the world's largest network of children helping children through education, with more than one million young people involved in innovative programs in 45 countries. The organization was founded in 1995 by 12-year-old Craig Kielburger, who is now an international child rights activist. Free The Children believes that youth leadership is the key to achieving a generation of committed and socially active young people. In North America, Free The Children motivates and educates thousands of young people each year through its youth leadership and global education programs. Internationally, Free The Children has built more than 500 schools in Asia, Africa and Latin America, providing education (the only way out of poverty) to more than 50,000 children every day. Learn more about Free The Children.
The goals, ideals and beliefs of Free The Children parallel our own perfectly. We truly believe that children hold the power to change this world. Free The Children is funded and driven by the energy and passion of youth.
We feel exactly the same way. Children are our greatest treasure and they need to be protected at every turn. Rest assured that all our toys go through stringent testing procedures that meet or exceed all U.S., Canadian and the even more stringent European safety standards, all regulations regarding age guidelines, all Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) directives and guidelines, and all regulations of the American Society for Testing and Materials. We then retest products with our own engineers, both on-site during the manufacturing process and again before they are shipped from the factory. Tests, tests and more tests. Trust us. Getting into one of our boxes is like getting into Harvard.
Little kids will stick anything and everything in their mouths, so we take safety very seriously. We are proud to say that all of our toys are now 100% BPA-free.
We used to say our toys were BPA-free in all cases of chewability. In the very first shipments of our toys there were two minor details with BPA: the insides of the light tubes on Times Square and the clear bottom door of Sugar Chute. The tubes had been tested to withstand teeth punctures and the door position on Sugar Chute made it very, very difficult to suck or chew on, but that still wasn’t good enough for us. Now there is no BPA even in these tiny parts.
Go ahead, chew away!
Yes. Our toys are lead-free and phthalate-free. They have passed rigorous tests that examine products for unsafe substances per U.S. standards that include lead paint and phthalates. No lead. No phthalates.
We want to hear about any concern or safety thoughts you might have. Please call us at 1-866-665-5524, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
